Door Snake or Draft Excluder

PATTERN DESCRIPTION

Door snakes or draft excluders are great patterns for beginners as they are only a few lines of sewing and you end up with something that is very useful! Door snakes help keep heat in during the winter reducing your heating bills and by making your own you can save the money of buying them for all the doors in the house. 2 sizes are included – one for behind the door and one for in front of the door. This way you can either double up and make two or just use the one that makes it easiest to open the door (and not trip over one in the middle of the night).

For experienced sewers they are a great way to use up leftover scraps of fabrics.

SIZES & SUPPLIES

Sizes: Two Sizes – see pattern for dimensions

Fabric: Suitable for woven fabrics.

Small size – 25cm x 70cm

Large Size 25cm x 90cm for lining fabric

Notions/Trims:

Stuffing – can use polyfill but it’s better if you can use fabric scraps such as leftovers that are too small to sew with or cut up some worn out clothes to use
