How I pre wash my fabric before sewing

Join me, Susan from Measure Twice Cut Once, as I take you through how I pre wash my fabric before sewing.

Almost all fabrics shrink, be it a little or a lot it can make a difference to your final garment size. One way to combat this is to pre wash your fabric. You can run it on a gentle cycle or hand wash it out. I hand wash because as you can see in the videos I only have access to large industrial style washing machines which are not suitable for pre washing.

Some fabrics also contain sizing, chemicals or other finishing treatments which aren’t always the best so a pre wash helps remove some of those as well.

How to sew a French seam

Join me, Susan from Measure Twice Cut Once, as I take you through how to sew a French seam, often used on fine or see through fabrics or just to ensure a neat finish.

It’s also good for children or adults who don’t like the feel of seams or have sensory issues.

The enclosed nature of the seam makes it smoother and provides less points of irritation. More videos on a variety of seams will be coming soon. If you have any questions please add them down below.
